Protection against non-payment by borrowers
Credit risk insurance protects lenders against losses resulting from a borrower’s failure to meet its payment obligations. It enables lenders to share the credit risk associated with long-term financing provided to companies and project entities.
If a borrower fails to pay principal or interest when due under the finance agreement, the insurance indemnifies the insured lender for the resulting loss, subject to the insured amount and the terms and conditions of the policy. The insurance does not affect the commercial relationship between the lender and the borrower.
Garantia can provide insurance for exposures in the following asset classes:
- Corporate Loans, Revolving Credit Facilities & Credit Lines
- Project & Infrastructure Finance
- Leveraged Finance
- Asset-Backed Finance
We can offer insurance capacity up to EUR 20 million per risk, and policy tenors of up to 10 years.
We primarily cover transactions in the Nordic countries and elsewhere in Northern Europe. Available capacity, tenor and other policy terms are determined on a case-by-case basis.
